I just removed the fairing from my 06 FLHX and found 3 of the 4 braces were broken. Has anyone else experienced this and have you found any way to reinforce the replacements? The mechanic at my dealer said that he could tell me where they were broken without even looking at them. I bought new ones, but i haven't put them on yet because I'm getting the inner fairing painted. Thanks for any help.
All four of mine are broke.
On the two side ones I'm going to fabricate
some brass reinforcements and silver solder
them into the weak areas. The upright ones
I think can just be welded back together.
You can reinforce the corners with welds on the two uprights or attach steel. As for the cross braces, there's a guy on another forum that makes ones made out of steel to replace.
