$68, Amsoil 20-50 crank (4 qts), 75-90 trany (1 qt), 10-40 primary (1qt), 3 o- rings, 1 HD filter (chrome). The primary holds 38 oz but i'll use a little left over 20-50 since the crank holds 3.5 qt.

Mine came in at 400.00 parts and labor at the dealer with Synthetic oil in all three holes, and changing the plugs. Also had to run diagnostic on the cruise conterol that was cutting out on me.

The rest have been less, cause I have done them myself.

Spent about $75 total for Red Line Synthetic (all holes) and a new HD Filter.

(Will use K&N Filter next time and future because they have a nut on the bottom to be able to remove easier.)

Don't think the dealer would have done anything more anyway.
Get the HD service manual and you're set.

I also have a 1k service only 110m away.

1 - Is there any difference in what's to be done in the 1k and 5k, and 10k etc?

2 - From reading here I assume synthetic's the way to go...?

3 - Stupid question, but doing your own service won't void any warranties, correct? I can see some auto dealers saying the 'problem' was due to poor servicing; "...you should've let us do it".

Not being cynical (don't mean to anyway), rather cautious...

I'm set up tomorrow morning to have my done - $320 with synthetic. I paid $20k + for the bike and I am not going to risk any issues not being covered by warranty. I am well capable of doing it myself but I am not going to risk any outs for the dealer if something breaks.

By the way 09RKC where are you going to have your service done at? Talk to Paul at Bumpus Collierville.

Yes there is a difference in the services at 5k, 10k +. Synthetics? Personal choice, I use them because I swear it keeps cooler and more quiet. Doing your own service will not cause a warranty issue, just keep your receipts as proof and a checklist of what was done. Get the service manual and follow it.

Bumpus on Whitten is closest. I've been to Collierville and like it a lot. I told my wife to try to be available tomorrow. I'll easily hit 1k with the temps being what they'll be.

I'm torn; feel strongly both ways in who does the work. Somehow I ended up with two '09 Touring Service Manuals and know I can do it, but the warranty issue... 'course ezriderpgh says it's not an issue. Guess I'll decide tomorrow.

I registered on FixMyHog tonight and wrote Dennis with a ?. In time I'm sure I'll do my own work, maybe more for the fun and love than $$$.

Once my 2 year is up then I'll do my own service work. Don't feel real comfortable rebuilding the motor but I will change oil and etc. Stop by Collierville bout 9 am tomorrow I'll be there waiting on the service to be done then we're hitting the road for a ride.
