Already giddy about the day-long ride we are doing tomorrow... 3 of us, each on Ultra's ('05, '06, and '09) heading out of Houston about 7:00 a.m. for Driftwood, Texas and Salt Lick BBQ. Mmmmm Mmmmm, good!!! It'll start out about 49 degrees in the a.m., warming up to about 72 by the time we hit South Austin, and narry a cloud in the forecast! HOG Ride Planner says that it'll be 229 miles outbound from Houston to Austin (backroads, indirect route) and 5 hours to get there. Who knows... With the weather like that and no obligation to get back before the New Year, we could see Seattle before the trip is done....
Just some inspiration to you all who are snow-bound.... Come see us in the winter -- we don't know what it is to put the bike away!
Hope ya'll have better weather today than we did yesterday. We rode about 220 miles full of rain, and a little sleet mixed in.Went to the Stake House in Snook,Tx.Between Somerville and College Station on hyw 60.Great food and the stakes will melt in you mouth.
Have a safe ride Phill.
Gotta love Salt Lick's BBQ. Been there twice as I have friends who lives in Austin, TX. It's a must go for others who's hungry for "All you can eat" BBQ feast. This is the place you'd want to go...Don't forget to bring your beer in your own cooler, Basically B.Y.O.B. They only provide Soft Drinks and Water.
Now, Thanks for the reminder on why I'm living up North and not riding my Ultra, LOL.
+1 bigjames19 - the weather in the panhandle was great yesterday, I put in four hours. It's raining this morning but tomorrow and Wed. look great, so back on the road for me. I was born in CA, lived in Louisiana most of my life, lived in Colorado Springs for a couple of years, Chicago for a year and Manhattan for 5 - I sure love the living in the South, especially FL!!!
