just came in from the garage. chrome forks and flamed cowbells are done and on the bike... forks weren't bad to do at all, just a little messy. thats the only part I was dreading and now that's behind me.

I am still waiting on some other parts before I can finish it all up and go for a ride... I am anxious to see how the new progressive fork springs and heavier fork oil will feel. Hopefully the brown truck will bring me the rest of my pieces on Tuesday.

not urgent, but I also need to find somone to paint a fender for me. I got a guy in Thurmont that usually does it but not sure he is painting right now due to some health issues. I have a used fatboy fender that I am planning to run to change up the front end a little more.

I understand, I was a little hesitant too but I pride myself on doing as much of my own work as I can. If you take you time, I am sure most people can do this. For the fork seal driver, I took a piece of 1 1/2 PVC pipe about 2' long, and split it lengthwise on my bandsaw. just held the 2 halves together around the fork and drove the new seal in place, it worked fine.

here is one link.

another writeup is also attached here. The manual was very helpful too, cause it has the exploded pics.

finished it all up around 4 today. woulda been earlier, but a former riding buddy (who now lives in Conn) stopped by for a while so I had to take a break.

Now that I understand how the ignition switch works, and found the right screwdriver, even that was a piece of cake to get back together... the dovetails need to be aligned at 2:00 and the the **** slides right in when its pointing to the LOCK position.

bike is filthy, and my matching rotor won't be here till Tuesday, but I didn't want to wait so I mounted up the old stock rotor till then.

So far, so good... no leaks yet, and the forks seem to rebound fine... although stiffer than they were cause of the progressive springs and 20w fork oil, will take some getting used to.

quick pic attached. Hopefully I can give it a bath in the morning, ran out of daylight today.

edit: you would not happen to have that Merel's last name (or #) would you? I am on Old Annapolis right near Woodville... I'd like to talk to him about painting the fender since he is so close.

cool sounds like you had a good day. I ran out of daylight today, I am hoping to wash the bike in the am and ride in the afternoon tomorrow to put some miles on this setup. thanks for the info on Jackson I'll start paying attention as I ride up thru there to see if I can tell if anyone has what looks like it could be a paint shop at their house.
