Vivid Black console insert
Just wondering if anyone here has the Vivid Black console insert on their bike. If so how well does it stay? And would you buy one again.
Similar or same as part number: 71237-05.
I have an '02 Road King Classic. It looks really nice in the catalog, but unsure how well it would look in real life.
Thanks in advance for any responses...

I installed the vivid black on my 06 roadking classic. As the others have said you peal off the back and stick it on after cleaning the surface with alcohol. Gives some nice contrast to all that chrome in the dash. Have not had a problem with mine coming off at all, been on for 2 years.
Had one on my '05 RKC and really liked it. Knocks out alot of glare when the sun is overhead and looks better in my opinion. Easy to put on, just take your time and make sure it is straight because it aint coming off easy.
I installed the console insert on my '08 RKC after I dropped my camera on the original, which appears to be made out of aluminum foil (cheap peace of crap). The vivid black insert has a much richer appearance.
Warning, if/when you replace yours wear gloves to pull the old insert off. I didn't. The old insert is very sharp around the edges and you have to pull suprisingly hard to get it off so I ended up getting sliced up pretty good. As others have noted, also be careful installing the new insert - you will only have one shot at it.
Funny thing... Since the day I bought the bike I have had the insert on my "wish list", I just couldn't justify the cost for a peace of plastic. I have also had the Street Gilde type of front fender on my list. Dropping the camera on the insert gave me the reason to replace the insert, hitting a deer gave me the reason to replace the front fender. I tell ya, it's Carma man.
