For me, that would just be one more thing to f**k up. I'm only 60 now. Maybe when I'm 80 or so if I start having trouble moving a bike around, but for now, no thanks.
Heard from my dealer here in Japan that MoCo is now evaluating the Japanese reverse kit that I have on my bike with an eye on offering it as an official H-D option in the future. This is all hush hush talk at the moment, of course, so your dealers won't know anything about it for a while.
But if that comes to pass those who want a reverse gear will have a really nice choice. It's a beautifully made gear driven U.S.-patented kit that has a safety feature to prevent the bike from being placed in 1st gear when the reverse lever is engaged.

Hey, I don't have as heavy a bike as some of you, but there have been times I've found myself on downhill inclines with sand, slippery surfaces or depressions I should have seen first and not gotten myself into.
Anyway, I just got an e-mail notice from AIM-Tamachi of a product they are now offering. It's a mechanical gear and clutch activated reverse gear that fits 5 and 6 speed transmissions.

If I had known HD offered a reverse when I purchased my Ultra last year I would have gotten it. I have had a few embarassing situations due to hilly terrain in the southern part of Indiana. Sometimes, you don't realize how bad the parking spot is until after you're committed. Then you see the white sand that blended in with the pavement and the fact that the incline was just a bit more than you expected.
Happened once in december where I ran into a bit of white calcium chloride in a corner parking spot. Needed another driver to help me back out..thanked him a bunch!!
