Thanks in advance for the feedback - I need to make a decision soon!
If you really want to know rent both and see the one you like the most, I love my EGC but the Road Glide folks sure talk well about their bikes also.

Unless your moving extremely slow, you don't steer a motorcycle by turning the handlebars anyway. You turn by leaning and "the lean" is accomplished best by "counter-steering". The input to the handlebars is really minimal to counter-steer, becoming only more pronounced in emergency evasive maneuvers. So, it really is a non issue because you don't really turn your bars anyway much. AND if you really think about it, the fixed headlights of the FLTR stay more in the direction you intend to go because even by slight counter-steering, you are actually moving the headlights slightly in the opposite direction from where you intend to go (on bikes where the headlight is attached to the forks.)

Urban myth. Car headlights don't turn with the steering and you can't do a corner inside of the headlight beam. Same with the R G.

Rode a E G Standard for 91K, finally got a 2008 R G a year ago and I don't see myself going back.

Wife likes the ride a lot better as well.

That Road GLide bunch is a loyal group. I can't remember any of them wishing they hadn't gone with the Glide. In fact, my brother got rid of one, and now he wishes he had it back. I mean these folks are dyed in the wool loyal. There's got to be something to it.

The RoadGlide handles so easy, I know some think it looks like it would difficult/different. Not to me. I enjoyed riding one for couple hours on all sorts of roads, handles great.

Not to start an argument,( And I rode a Electra Glide for 15yrs ) but unless your riding really slow to have to turn the handlebars your headlight on a Electra Glide is almost straight ahead.

RoadGlides are over rated. I have an 08' and have loved every mile put on it and would buy an 09 if I knew what the economy had in store for the next 2 years. I don't know about this creaking noise being spoken of, never heard it. The headlights don't turn with the bars but who turns their bars when going around a corner over 5 mph. There are many comparison threads on here to read. I had an 07' UC before my RG. For me the Rg is tops. T.

The reason you're lookin at the RG is because you want one. Go get it and stand out in the crowd. You'll get use to the jealous looks in time
