Hey guy,s, My brother-inlaw rides a 05 LR and he has come across a 2000 EGC with a great price tag. I was wondering is there any issues other than the usual (miles, wear and tear, ect.) to look for? The scoot looks to be in great cond, and as I said before the price is very very good. My 01 RK has 32,000m on it and still runs great. Any help would be appreciated.
I'm still riding my 2000 RK, exact same frame, engine, etc., and I've been totally pleased with it. Nearly 70K miles, and she still runs great! If the price is right I'd say go for it.
They are good bikes, I had one and at about 40,000 miles the cam bearings failed. It was covered under a 50,000 mile warranty that the MOCO offered back then. Mine was a Marelli FI and not as good as the newer Delphi FI but a really good bike anyway. I would recommend having a good mechanic check for cam bearing issue and fix it before it fails. It is much cheaper to put in a new set of cams and an upgraded oil pump before it fails. The Fueling super pump is a lot more effective than the original.
If this bike is a FI there is little you can do to improve it as the Marelli is primitive and there is little aftermarket support. Not to sure if the aftermarket has come up with an improved FI or not. Good luck and enjoy the bike.

Thanks for all the replies. the price is under $7000. Miltonhog, I have a Marelli FI on my RK and have not had a problem yet(Knock on Wood)(Dam gotta find some wood!) but I put a S&S gear drive cam with a 95" and PCIII a few years back so I hear ya about the cam bearing issue. I was just wondering is there anything about that year we should be concerened with.
Hi Dave, I had no issues with the Marelli FI either but am aware it has some limitations. Mine worked fine even at 10,000 ft elev and 4 inches of wet snow. Started right up at 25 degrees and sitting in the wind all night. Ran like it was back home in it's own garage. I was lucky and caught mine before it grenaded the engine so did the 95 kit at the same time. Warranty covered some of the labour costs and I put in the upgraded oil pump. Mine was an EGC in a really sharp Luxury Rich Red . Like I said it was a good bike and I was taken care of pretty well with the warranty which back then was 5 year 50,000 miles. I keep all records on maintainance and the bike was dealer maintained and so no issues. I hope you enjoy the bike. I have now had several other Classics and my current 08 with ABS is also Crimson Red and it is awesome. I almost wish I had an 09 because of the changes to the frame wheels and exhaust but I am really a pretty happy guy.
Have had no issues with my 01 but I went carb due to the fact I didnt want FI.Wasnt sold on FI back then and glad I didnt get one with it due to the issues with Marelli FI..
