Silverback,

I asked a somewhat related question to this group some time back and like you got mostly degrading answers. Since I'm color blind the "tiny" little light doesn't stand out to me like it does others. I feel it should flash or something and have spoken with the dealer about adding a different color light, mounted in the center of the inner fairing, that would stand out to me more. It was kind of funny to me that people would say "you shouldn't rely on a light anyway", that I should rely on my odometer. I guess it is perfect and could never fail. They too can fail.

The only thing I don't like about my ultra is the lack of reserve.

My fuel light came on yesterday and I rode about 10 miles till I found a gas station it then took 4.8 gallons to fill.[&:]
I got ya beat. 4.93 gals on my first fill up. I started using my trip meter after that.
I've got that beat. 3 years ago, my first tankful on my fatboy. waited for the light to go on, ran out of fuel. Didn't know the guages sucked. I learned real quick.
I put 5.13 gallons in my Glide the other day. I knew I was running low, but jeez!

You think the calibration might be off? Not like they don't pull enough money in, they gotta screw with the gauges so squeak every last penny out!
Wait a minute, I thought that the gas tank only held 5 gallons of gas?? Does it hold more the 5 gallons??

Fuel guages and low fuel lights are as useless as **** on a boar hog. Use the trip odometer. It won't leave you stranded.

when you know your getting low on fuel, never pass a gas station, just like if you stop somewhere, never pass up a chance to go to the bathroom.

HD's gauges have never been worth a crap. Nobody is trying to be cute, just stating fact. Most scooters that I have ridden never had any kind of gauge. You always had to go with the odometer. The best thing anybody that rides a FI bikes can do is to see how far they can go before they run out of gas. My FLHRCI is the first FI bike I ever had. I know that at 225, I am in trouble. When I am around the house, i will push it to around 200 miles. When I am on the road, 175 or less.
