Cutting down the stock antennas ??

You may not use the CB, but the next guy may want to if you trade it off, or sell it. And the time may come when you decide to use it yourself, so think about it before cutting that one off.

just go to auto parts store and by a shorty for around $5

Well, "mod" or not, with the HD shorties on there, at least it doesn't, as another guy said in a similar thread about this, "look like some kid's radio control toy anymore". I think that about sums it up. Much cleaner look. I did it and I like it. YMMV.

I didnt cut my antenna on my bike (installed a antenna under the fairing) but i did cut the antenna on my truck so it would be the same hieght as the roof and it has worked fine for years.
