I posted this in a Rinehart thread because a few people wanted to see the pics. Decided it might help others on a thread of its own by posting the info here. I just put Rinehart slipons on my 09 Ultra and had a clearence problem between the top of the mufflers and the right side axle nut. I came up with this solution and it turned out good. I only had about 1/4" of clearence so I ordered four 5/8"OD X5/16"ID X3/4" long chrome spacers from Fastenal (part no. 0185756) pkg of 5, price was $14.83. I installed them with 1-1/4" stainless bolts between the orig equip metal bracket that passes thru the rubber and the bracket welded on top of the pipes. This gave me another 3/4" of clearence and looks good too. See Pics.
Looks good! Hopefully it won't cause binding issues from pushing the pipes downward. No more than it is, though, I'll bet it will be fine.
Stro,
I thought about that while I was doing it, thats why I tightened the bolts on the rear brackets first, then tightened the muffler clamps last all to torque specs. Nothing seemed like it was binding or could cause a problem. It actually improved the looks, the pipes had a def upward slant to the back and now it has the same spacing between the pipes and saddlebags from front to rear. I got the idea after cking out a buddy's bike who has either jackpots or Rush pipes, they had a very simular looking round bracket built onto the pipes, maybe not quite 3/4" but 1/2" to 5/8"for sure. Just did not feel like I could leave it like it was.
