Not to steal your thread but I have a two-tone Fire Red Pearl and Black Pearl w rack of EGC that I going to sell. If anyone is looking for that paint send me a PM.

That's a great idea - I need to do that with mine. My wife complains that I use an upper part (parts, actually) of her anatomy as a backrest and therefore need to move it back

I have a quick-detach chopped pak on my '09 RG. I did quite a bit of research before picking this one - I think it best fits the RG profile. On the other hand, I can't fit my full face HJC into it - dang this "form over function" thing...My detach does rattle somewhat, unless I wrap the back docking lug with thin rubber strips.

You will really appreciate the tour pack regardless - It's been some time since I've had mine off.

This is my 07 RG with King tour pak. I went with the detachable mount thinking I'd only use it for trips. How wrong! I never took it off. On the next RG I'll use the solid mount. Also this picture is before I moved the pak back 2" using a Kuryakyn accessory and the Mustang seat.

Now on my '05 EGC I rarely had the TP on it. Maybe 5% of the time - only on a longer road trip would I use it. I don't like that big bulky thing on my bike and don't need it usually but WOW is it nice on a big trip I can tell you that. Obviously this is a personal preference thing.

When I did put my TP on I just snapped it on. I didn't hook up the lights or speakers so no wires to fuss with. Again depends what you want. I'm just saying it doesnt have to be all that complicated if you mount the TP occasionally when needed. Even so it took maybe 20 minutes (instead of 5 minutes) if I did hook up the speaker wires, antenna, lights, etc.

As mentioned above, moving the antenna into the fairing is a great idea and eliminates the need for the wiring and antenna on the TP. Then you just have the lights (if you have them) and/or the speakers (if you have them).

The detachable tourpak is a WONDERFUL thing I must say. I'm going to be picking up a leather RK Tourpak for my bike soon for those times when I need it on a trip.

I ended up getting the classic king tourpack and love it. I think the chopped looks better but I ride with a full faced helmet and wanted something to hold it. I disagree about never taking it off. For me the weight difference is noticeable so I remove it approx 50% of the time. It only takes a couple of minutes to put on or take off.

Hey leeinmemphis, that is a nice set up. I am calling Zanotti's today,I am going to go with the classic tp and I will add the lights and speakers later. Money is always an issue, especially since I am a disabled vet and have to witch my finances. I thank everyone for the input on this topic, and I love to see pics of bikes with different set-ups. It gives me ideas on which way to go with my customization. Keep the pics coming, show off those beautiful H-D's.

If you are going detachable you may want to look at this:

I have never tried them but the reviews say the do a nice job.

I picked up a used tourpac off a 06' EGC and took it to a paint shop. I'm really happy with the result. all tourpacs interchange. Its the hardware thats different.
