Looking for a good looking low profile seat for my 09 FLHX. I'd like it to be something I can use with a driver backrest. Any suggestions? All comments appreciated.
I've got the Mustang Tripper and it doesn't get much more low profile than that. Good bar hopper but any long trip you'll feel it. However that's not what it was designed for. No back rest but it' low pro.
Look at Corbin's website. You can get a backrest for just about all their seats. I run the Corbin Classic Solo on mine and it is a great seat in my opinion. If you need 2 up you can always buy their matching pillion pads. Leather seat with lots of colors and stitching patters to choose from.
I'm using the Mustang solo with backrest. Feels great, looks great. I never put the backrest on unless I'm leaving town, but it greatly reduces long-haul fatigue.
The stocker made my posterior feel like it was in a vice after about 75 miles.
Heres a thread where we really flogged this topic last year:
I got a sundowner seat from HD It's made for the shorter guys like me. It drops ya in the area of 1&1/2" and you can put a back rest on also sold by HD if you go that way get the adjustable backrest. I have had one on my 93 FatBoy that I had from 03-current and now I have one on my 07 Road King and love it! Another added thing that I have done is got a sheep skin cover off of Ebay. The softest thing you will sit on! I also went with a pair of burley bars that are a beach bar. They are GREAT and they fit with your stock equiptment.
There's only 1 to chose from MUSTANG!!! I went through 5 seats on my 07 FLHX before I got the mustang, it does everything needed, it's low profile, very comfy did several 500+ mile days on it, oh and it looks great. I put 13000 miles on my mustang and it looked like it just came from the factory with my 250+ azz sitting on it all those miles. We bought a 09 Ultra, guess what seat is on it? In all fairness I had the new sundowner on until I could get the mustang and I had no complaints with it but I didn't take any long trips on it. We enjoyed the mustang so much on our 07 that we had to have one for the 09, we are going on a 2500 mile ride next month and I feel sure the mustang will get us through it just fine.
Thanks for all the helpful replies. I thought about the Corbin seat because of all the options but I heard the seats sometimes have many imperfections and their customer service sucks. I will look into them as well as Mustang.
