A friend install them in his EG and place the template 1/2 higher and 1/2 closer to the outer edge of the fairing. This location works perfect.
His research before the installation indicated if the mirrors are installed as indicated by the instructions you will see more of your knuckles than anything else.
Also, according to him there is little to no vibration.
I went from Handlebar mount to fairing mount on my 07 EGC... on the handlebar mirrors i was looking at my shoulders. The Fairing mount are MUCH better - just use the template to install. I also used them with pullback bars and had no issues. Just set up the bars right below the mirrors.

I have a 03 Electra Glide. The previous owner put them on. I didn't care for them. I felt they were to low. Now I have the original mirrors and the flaring mirrors on. Once you put them on, they stay on or leave a hole.
They look nice, but not as functional.
