I was shocked to see your post as I went through the same thing last week! Had the wheel off, seperated the IDS to check the rubber isolators, and after cleaning things up ended up with two very similar spacers and not sure where they went!
After indulging the help of a good friend, got the measurements for both spacers and as you've figured out the wider of the two (p/n 11486) goes in the IDS. It's ~.545" wide and the other that goes next to the rotor is just under 1/2". I ended up marking the wider one with a perm marker prior to reinstalling so I wouldn't have a major brain fade like this agian.
What kind of shape were your "rubbers" in? I had a LITTLE wear on mine but really not bad at all. Just wiped 'em clean and cleaned up the hub before reinstalling them. My IDS kit has about 14,000 miles on it.
And I see Hog Yild gave you great info while I was typing.
Hog: I'll save your dimensions for future use.
Thanks!!
Hey Wvultra,
I got the 08 Brembo's on and man I love those brakes, I just finished chroming out the front and I'm switching to laced wheels. The write up you had on the brembos was right on, thanks!
IIRC, there's about 12k on mine and they still looked just fine. Like you, I just cleaned them up and reinstalled. I have new ones, but decided the current ones were ok.
Main reason I wanted to seperate the IDS was to take a close look at the sprocket bearing since some riders suspected/experienced problems. It also felt/looked fine when I compared it with a new bearing I also had on hand.

Reason: Corrected Mileage
I had the dealer install a IDS when they had the promotion in late 07 on my 07 ultra which I had for 4 months and had 4000 miles on it . Needed a new tire at 11000 which was this past october. Dealer said the bearing was shot in the IDS and had to pay 50 for a new bearing. I asked about the warranty on the IDS because it had not been a year since it was installed and was told it is good for 90 days so no claim. Does anybody know what the real warranty period is for a HD part installed by a dealer?

rabidd:
Most H-D parts and accessories, such as the IDS, carry their standard 90 day warranty. Being installed by Dealer doesn't change/extend it.
I don't agree with it, but has been this way for long time.
Sorry I couldn't provide this yesterday but it was on my computer at work.
I have a copy of the IDS instructions, the file is too large to attach, if you PM me with an email I'd be happy to pass it along.
