Newbie question, but where is the cat located in the stock headpipe? I have those exact slipons also, thought they were to quite, so I took them off and apart, got to the baffles and cut about 1 1/2" off each one, not the best thing to do i'm sure but it did make them louder and rumble more at idle and at throttle.
i've got the bub 7 true duals on my '07 RK and they have plenty of bark when i get into the throttle. what i like about them is i can cruise out of the hood without setting every car alarm off. great tone and from my perspective the right level of loud.
I have the same setup on my SG, my thoughts exactly.
First, it's only the California and Screamin' Eagle 110 bikes that have the catylitic converters. It is located in the header directly after both head pipes converge. You no, even when the cat is removed I think it just maybe the design of the header pipe that quiets things down. Vance and Hinds has a True Dual header pipe, not the Power Duels but a straight thru dual system that I think I might give a try, I'll leave a link, tell me your thoughts....Rich

I run the truduels and like them loud when I want it to be sets off the alarms in the garage at work in the AM and can still hear the stereo all 6 speakers. At 80mph you can deffinetly hear it moving. My $.02 Ride safe

+1 Get rid of the stock header pipes and put on true duals, that will wake them up.
