Default Tinted windshield on an Ultra

Curious about all of your thoughts about tinted windshields. I've got the stock full-size Ultra windshield, and I like the height of it personally. I've heard from another rider that a tinted windshield makes it harder to see at night and in the rain. Is this true?

I've got the smoked turn signal covers, and like the look of them. Would going with smoked windshield cause visibility problems?

Any recommendations on a manufacturer/model windshield I should look at getting? I've really added a lot of stuff to the bike this winter (chrome front end, color matched inner fairing, tons of other chrome, etc) and think a windshield change may be next

I have a lightly tinted gray shield. But it is not an issue because I bought one that is the right height so I can see over it. However, I can still see through it at night but not as well as looking over it.

PS Get the chrome trim for the windshield too!

I just added a Clearview Dark tint with recurve. I can see over it and should not have issues dealing with that. I chose the dark tint because it was going on a vivid black ultra and a friend of mine has the light gray and it has a bronze tint in the sunlight. I didn't want that. Call John at Clearview he can get you what you want. The recurve really helps with the wind deflection. Turn around is about 3 weeks. Each shield is custom made but still inexpensive. Check out the blems. Here's the link. When he made mine it came out of the mold with a minor blem and I got the blem price.

I had a Clearview 12" smoke recurve but was still looking through the shield, just bought a 10" Wind Vest smoke with recurve and looking over it instead of through it. Seems to have more of a recurve than the Clearview. Both very good shields IMO. No problem in the rain or dark.

Memphis shades offers the windshields that are colored half way up, that way the shield is still clear where your looking through it. I am probably going to order one and try it on my Ultra.

I'm considering getting a tinted one just to hide the pouches on the windshield.

I no longer have the fatboy. Just purchased an 09 Ultra. Right now bone stock, but working on it.

Tinted is ok as long as it is the right height and you can look over it. Think they look much better than the clear.

I've got one of these.....gradient black in a 10". Absolutely love it and the folks at Memphis Shades took care of me on the first one I bought where the tint crystalized on it......no questions asked, just gave me a new one 2 years later!!
