trailer question
That is who made my hitch for the softy and it is who I plan to order my hitch for the Ultra from. They look really good. You will have to tighten the bolt going through the receiver pretty tight or the hitch pin will rattle.
Couple years ago we needed a trailer. I looked at about everyone out there. Talked to people at rallies to see how they liked what they were towing. Was told over and over that Bushtec was the best. Have been towing Bushtec for several years and everyone is correct they are they best.
Company is great to deal with quality is the best. You really don't know it is back there, it does not bounce, wheels are the same size as bike tires so they spin the same speed you are going. Not cheap but in my opinion worth every penny.

Bushtec Roadstar....Looks also blends with the Bagger.
Have pulled one in every state including Alaska and all across
Canada.

Randy,
I pull a Kompact Kamp cargo trailer behing my 99' E-glide Classic. Good reasonably priced trailer, has independent suspension( a big plus!) and I think the newer ones come with LED lighting, I recently converted mine to LED to make it easier on the bikes electrical system.
I have always used just a standard ball hitch and never had any problems with the bagger leaning too far for the hitch to accomodate. If your buddy's hitch set-up is new to the bike, have him look into Ride-Time Technologies, http://www.ridetimetechnology.com/
they sell a neat little adapter to wire in a trailer plug that just inserts inbetween the main wiring harness and the rear fender harness, noo need to splice into the wiring! Made it real easy and if I remember right, only cost about $50 shipped.
I wouldn't worry about an oil cooler, especially up nort there, while hauling the trailer WILL affect your MPG, ( or is it KPG?) it shouldn't put too much more strain on the motor. (as long as he's gonna just stick with a reasonable cargo trailer, not the big camper trailers)
Hope this is some help.
