trailer question
Thinking about heading to Alaska this summer on my 06 Electra Glide CLASSIC. I have a 95 in kit with V & H Propipe so have the power to pull a trailer, I think. Any recommendation on a smaller trailer and hitch.
Built my own using Harbor Freight trailer and a sears car top carrier.Cost about $400 with all the LED lights.

Now that I traded bikes, I have to buy a new hitch for the Ultra. I am selling the hitch from the Heritage, anyone interested PM me.

Here's a link that might help you. I think it covers every motorcycle trailer made. I enjoyed it when shopping for a trailer.

I can only advise of my experience. For the money you can't go wrong with http://www.cycle-mate.com/.
The are plenty of trailers that are nicer looking or will match your bikes paint. In reality most folks only use their trailers a couple times of year. If you get a lot of use maybe a higher priced trailer is an OK option.
Some say you should get a swival hitch so it moves more when taking curves. If you are taking curves with that much of a lean you shouldn't be hooking up a trailer. Just my opinion.
Once you get your trailer, proper packing is critical so not put too much or too little on the tongue weight.
I have towed from Wisconsin to Montana several times without any issues.
Good luck!

Ironically both of those posts are by me
.....I wanted the unigo but after some research figured out that it isn't what I was wanting(lots of problems listed online). I ended up going with a bushtec and am fairly pleased with it. Going to Alaska you will likely encounter some bad roads. I would probably be looking for something that has a cargo carrier on it and just a basic trailer. I don't know how well the bushtec would take to bashing it around on bad roads. My bike is a stock 96" motor, vh fuelpak, and big sucker a/c. It would pull in 6th gear but sometimes on hills I would have to downshift out of sixth. For me the trailer will hopefully open up some opportunities for moto camping and other trips that would normally require more hauling capacity than just the standard bike allows. I do feel that the bushtec hitch is a first class product. Even if you go with another brand of trailer the hitch should still work for you.

These trailers and a Kuryakyn Trailer hitch has serve me well for years and years and thousands of miles.
