I bought a Garmin nuvi 200 for $120 plus $12 for a handlebar mount off of Ebay. Have had it on for over a year and no problems. It is not weather proof but I just put it up when it comes a shower.
You can find many GPS Units now for $99 to around $250 that are good devices, just not waterproof. Then add a RAM mount (try www.cyclegadgets.com) and you are good to go. I myself use a GPS that is not waterproof and should I ever need to use it in the rain or wet, I will cover it with a plastic sandwich baggie and rubber band it closed at the bottom. Some inexpensive units are refurbished but I have seen brand new ones w/ warranty for $99 as well. Try www.buy.com for GPS units. RAM makes universal types of mounts that you can adapt to just about any GPS.
I bought a Garmin Nuvi 350 and mounted it to the handlebar with the "e-Caddy Deluxe" plus Pro-clip USA's mount adapter. Very inexpensive and functional. Looks cleaner than the ZUMO. If you're interested send me a Private Message and I'll send the links to you. Also, somewhere in my photo album is a close-up of my fairing that has a good picture of the mount on the left side of my handlebar.

look for a Garmin 2610 on the net. it is a great GPS for a bike. water and vibration proof. although it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of a Zumo, it works great, i've used mine for many years with no problems.
finally wanted some additional features, so got a Zumo 550, but the old 2610 is still a great GPS and you can get some real bargains on it now.
