I bought the tour pac and saddle bag lid organizor, not Harley brand. They are double sided tape application. I had my doughts and just as i thought the Tour Pac organizor came off. The tape stuck to the lid but released from the organizor. Any suggetions? I bought some velcro to try that. I really like the whole concept of them too. Was kinda bummed.
I seem to recall that there was a whole thread on here about that back in October. Everyone has had the same experience with the double sided tape.
They reported better results with the velcro, but you have to prepare the surface for best adhesion, by cleaning it with alcohol and then allowing the tape to cure in place for a day or 2 before hanging things on it. I am just reporting what I have read here. I havn't tried this yet.
I plan to get the organizers. If I find I really like them, I think I will use some sort of 2-part epoxy to put on longer strips of velcro, or a wide sheet of velcro with a lot of surface area. Something like JB Weld. But once you do that, it is never going to come off without going in there with a dremmel tool and grinding it off.
Mine did the same thing. So here is what I did, I removed the tour pak rack (4 bolts) I put the org in place with some masking tape and marked the holes from the top side of the tour pak lid down on to the org with a colored marker, Drilled the marked holes out in the plastic backing of the org and bolted it back together.
Works Great No tape No Worry. Tried the Velcro thing also and it came off as well. Good luck
If you have a luggage rack, simply match and drill holes into the organizer then insert and tighten the luggage rack bolts. No one will see the bolts. The organizer will never move again. I did this to my HD TP organizer. Be careful not to drill into the outside of the pouches/net....only where the top of the organizer comes into contact w/ the lid.

That's what we all end up doing. So now you have a great excuse to buy the rack if you don't already have one.
I had the same problem so I use Velcro. The glue on the Velcro will stick really good to the double sided tape. If you saddle bag organizer is a little awkward like the HD ones are the Velcro will really be of help.
