Default Craftsman Yellow Jack - CAUTION

The jack 'slipped' off the stops that the lock-bar rest on. I had the RKC up to the 2nd stop and was fiddling. When the lock-bar slipped over the raised stop... well, my heart did the same.

It's a damned good thing I tighten the handle as the jacks come to rest on the stop, a habit I got into right away. The bike dropped about 6" before the hydralic saved the day.

The jack's rated to 1500#, far more than the RKC. I never thought to look and notice the Sears jack is made of aluminum cast, likely the poorest material given the purpose. This bike will never, ever rest on that jack again. No sense in having Sears replace it, but I will get a store credit.

It's difficult to see but try to notice where the lock-bar has worn the cast risers (the stops) down. This jack is less than 2mo old.

Ain't it a shame that we get what we pay for... Glad there wasn't any damage.

There's plenty of these "Yeller" Craftsman jacks being used today and yours is the first reported incident here at the forum. Not defending the jack, just sayin' this is not the norm. I bought mine because of the price and someday may upgrade to J&S. If we would get off our collective FORUM Butts and get J&S to come on board as a "sponsor" then maybe we all could get a deal on one from J&S. Until then, I'm holding out from paying full retail from any vendors..

The economy stinks and its winter too. These vendors could easily run a sale..

I bet that tightened up the old rear end. I'm glad for you that there was no damage.

I don't get it. It's like a 180 dollar Jack. Are Jacks supposed to cost more?

09RKC, thanks for the heads up. Sounds defective. I've used my about 50 times. My lock thing-a-majig look new.

used my yellow jack last night.....locks seemed to work ok......don't know how you were 'fiddling'.

Looked at mine again and don't see how the locks could slip on mine.
I attribute you bad luck to "crap happens".
