fixed that annoying vibration
Lately it seem like the vibration between 1500 to 2000 rpms was getting progressively worse. So I replace the front motor mount (it was torn anyway), but nothing changed.
That was frustrating, I'm sure that it felt better 10000 miles ago, but what else could it be?
THen the other day I notice my left V&H Oval vibrating more than my right. I turned off the motor and sure enough, I could actually move it up and down noticeably more than the right. Well it is a 2002 RKC with 25000 miles, so worn out rubber makes sense.
I replace the rubber exhaust mounts (less than $10) and now both V&Hs are rock solid, but more important, THE VIBRATION IS GONE. Finally fixed that sucker. I just never thought about the exhaust being the cause.
So when you replace the front motor mount, spend an extra $10 and ten minutes to replace those exhaust rubber mounts as well.
I do have one question, should I lock tight those bolts on the exhaust? They do have lock washers.
