What hand tools do you find you need for most wrenching? I realize I need a good set of hex and torx, but what else do those of you who do most of your own up keep find you MUST have?
Most average maintenance on a harley can be done with what you mentioned good set of Allen sockets and hand held allens, good set of Torx, good set of wrench's and sockets, and some good screw drivers. Along the way you may run into some other stuff that is handy. Like a multimeter to read voltages and check things. And its not a bad idea to have the above listed tools in Metric and Standard as you will find some of each on the bike. Cpl different size extensions for your socket set to get into some locations.
I tend to find the tool I need the most is the one I lent out to a buddy!
Seriously a basic Sears mechanics set will get you started. My favorite tool is a 3/8" rachet that is only 3" or 4" long and has a swivel head. Hard to over torque things, yet fits the hand well enough that I can break most bolts free with it.
