Default Stock Seat????????

does the stock road glide seat ride better than the street glide??? dont want to spend a lot of $$ on a seat that dosent fit me, i am 6'2 and 235 and the seat on my SG is like sitting on a board after a few miles... i like the way the stock seat positions me...or any ideas on a aftermaket??

On most if not all of my previous bikes, I have usually changed out to a Mustang seat in short order. That being said, I am so far perfectly happy with my stock Road Glide seat and the thought of changing it out has not crossed from my azz to my mind. I have heard that the Road Glide seat is indeed different then the Street Glide, but I don't know that for sure since I don't own the Street Glide.

I weigh more then you and if I were to consider a new seat, it would only be from Mustang, based upon my past experiences on Mustang seats. Or if I were you, look for a slighly used Road Glide seat from someone who switched to a solo seat etc. I'm keeping mine though as so far it works for me..

nolafishr, they are different RG to SG. SG has a deeper bucket and passenger area is smaller.

I just bought a 09 SERG seat for my 08 FLHX and haven't had the chance to test it as winter is set in deep here in Michigan. This I can tell you, the seat is wider for the passenger, bucket is not as tall as SG seat and is farther back from the bars for the rider seating position. The height is a little shorter. I am 6-0 and think the added room for me from the bars and wider seat for the wife will be what I was looking for without spending $500. I posted on the "parts wanted" section of this forum and in 4 hours a guy contacted me, and for $185 I owned it.

Do as I, go to the local HD dealer and "seat test" RG to SG..The position will differ slightly because of the handle bar difference. Maybe your dealer will remove a RG seat for 5 minutes to try on a new SG. The RG seat is similar to the SE RG seat.

You do need to give your seat some miles to break in. How many miles do you have on it now?

I swapped my 08 road glide seat for an Ultraclassic seat. Man what a difference. Felt like I was going to fall off the stock rg seat. the ultrclassic seat holds my butt nice and secure. Will go with a mustang or corbin when I wear this one out.

They both suck in my opinion. I don't think HD is capabable of making a comfortable seat, least of all for us big dudes (6'3", 270#). I'd spend a bit more and get a custom seat - Corbin, C&C, etc.). You'll end up with a nice firm saddle that will adjust to your butt over time and make it happy.

Example of my new seat being made as I type by Chuck and the guys at C&C seats the Sport Tour in black vinyl w/ faux StingRay insets and charcoal stitching. PM me if you want additional info.
