Default Seat Strap ?

I have changed out my stock seat on my 2009 SG to a new mustang sport touring. Since the stock seat strap is now to short what is best thing to do with it? Some how keep it tucked away in case you use stock seat again or get rid of it?

If you get rid of it the one side is riveted on. What is best way to remove it? Cut strap off or drill out rivet somehow to remove entire piece?

Thanks

Doug

Same problem on my 2003 RK, but the strap just unbolts from each end. Just put it away with my old stock seat.

The wife used it to hold on sometimes when we ride. I have not taken her on the bike since I put the new Mustang seat on last Wednesday.

The bracket comes right off at both ends...just remove it and throw the strap and brackets away.

Harry is right, the bracket that the strap is riveted to unbolts and comes off, then if you ever wanted to put it back on you can.

To be a little more clear, the bracket is between the forward saddle bag mount and the frame.
You need to remove the bolt that holds the saddle bag mount to the frame. Just be careful to mark the position of the saddle bag mount as it's adjustable. Painters tape worked well for me. I removed my saddle bags when I installed my sundowner seat. This will give you more room to work and less chance of scratching your bags.

Remove it but don't throw it away for God's sake! Put it away with your old seat; you never know when you want to sell it to get a new bike and the original parts should go with the original bike.

For someone buying a used Harley getting all the original parts sweetens the deal for them to buy.

But that's just me and the liquor talking.

I bought the passenger hand rail for the Ultra, I had one on my '03 RKC and also on my '07 SG. Easier for the passengers to hold onto, and they make a great tie down point for bungee cords when you're carrying something. I hate that strap!
