Default Exhaust rattle

Just installed a set of Jackpot dyno tuned slip ons to my 08' FLHRC. I noticed the right exuast is rattling. It's not to loud, just loud enough to bug the crap out of me. I was able to stop the rattling by applying a little pressure to the back of the slip on. It moves a little bit and looks like the rubber bushing is a little loose, because it is moving a little to. I made sure the bolts are tight, but the rubber bushing and slip-on still moves a little. The bike only has 3K miles on it. Could the rubber bushing already have gone bad in that short of time. Or did installing the new slip-ons cause it to loosen. Any wisdom would be appreciated.

Could be the baffle isn't seated tight in there. Jaime or Keith will probably chime in on this and fix you up. Those guys stand behind their products...

If your referring to the rubber bushing at the rear hanger bracket below the bags. Movement in this rubber bushing is normal. Sounds like the clamp at the front of your mufflers is loose. Should be tight to secure the muffler and prevents leaks. Most wrenches will coat the pipe circumference with high temp RTV at this point ( leak prevention).

I had trouble with a Rush muffler. I took baffle out and tried spreading flanges a little but rattle came back. Dealer returned to Rush with no problem.

First off, I'd try losening up the muffler clamps and moving the mufflers forward a little and then re-tightening. Make sure to also move the clamps forward so you can get the best "bite" near the end of the slot flange of the muffler.

Next, I'd take Hogginit's advice and apply some high temp RTV. I use Ultra Copper by Permetex.

Last, and what worked for me, you could try some polyurethane wedges or "shims" between the top of the rubber bushing and the bracket. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. At first I thought it may be the baffle making the noise, what made me questioned that, was the rattle stopped when I applied a little pressure, by pressing up at the back of the slip-on with my foot. If it was the baffle inside the slip-on, wouldn't it keep rattling?

I'll try moving the mufflers forward and using some high temp RTV. If all else fails, I like your suggestion Clint55, about using a shim.

Not that this may be your problem but, sometimes I have had the rubber hanger bushings make some noise. They can either get some dirt in there or just dry out. Squirt a bit of wd 40 in them and see if it helps. The mufflers do float from side to side a bit in them and in and out.

Default Noisy slip-on

I installed the Jackpot Slip-on's back in September of 08, I noticed the exact same thing on the right side slip-on. I really noticed mine @ idle and occasionally @ speed. It turned out to be a loose baffle assy. I called Jamie and he shipped me a new one along with a return call tag for the old one for inspection. All is good now, they sure are good people to work with. BTW, the original baffle would stop rattaling with a little pressure from my boot.

Well, I tried taking the baffle out, but no luck. I even took the slip-on off and tried knocking it out with a broom stick. The baffle just wouldn't come out. So I called FuelMoto and talked to Jamie & Keith and they're sending me a new right muffler. All the posts about Fuelmoto's customer service being so good was right on the money. They were great, what I thought would be a hassle (normal protocol nowadays), turned out to be the opposite. Thanks Jamie & Keith, with service like yours, I'll definitely tell others about your products. Wished everybody else stood behind their product the way they do. Thanks also to all the posts.
