45 minutes, including a couple of sips of your favorite beverage. I seem to always double and triple check myself just to make sure I'm not messing anythin up, just make sure you zip tie the cables up out of the way and make em tight, don't want any rubbing. Good luck.
The actual install of the hardware is a two-beer job, maybe 15-20 min. at most and is almost PNP. Just remove the right saddlebag, right side cover, unplug the ECU, plug in the PCIII, wire-tie the PCIII to the ECU, and add another tie or two for the connectors. Optional, smear a light coating of dielectric grease around the connectors before closing. But you're not finished just yet...
Install the PC software to a notebook computer, connect the PCIII to the computer via USB, and launch the software. Under "Power Commander Tools" click on "Set Throttle Position." Connect the 9V adapter in the kit to the PCIII and turn on the ignition without starting the engine. Without moving the throttle click on "Reset" and after a few seconds twist the throttle to 100% until the number under "Open" settles in a second or two. Close that window and the throttle and look in the main window for "% Throttle," which should say "0%". Twist the throttle again to 100% and it should show accordingly in the digital readout. If not, repeat the procedure. If you can only get 99% or so instead of 100% that's close enough. Turn everything off, remove the USB cable, replace the side cover and saddlebag, and you're ready to roll.
I didn't do this and didn't know about it. Mine seems to run fine, but I've been busy and the weather is crappy so I haven't been able to ride much. I did notice an occasional decel pop or two that I don't care for. I'm running the map that Fuel Moto supplied and they didn't say anything about it. Is setting the throttle position necessary and what will it do?
I just installed my PC-V from fuel moto yesterday. With AC it took maybe 1/2 hour. On a 09 Ultra it is under the seat. I told Jamie what AC on pipes and asked him if he would load the rite map. He seemed to nail it!

Soory for what is likely a very stupid question, but what is AC
Me too! Installed it and never done anything else. Runs like an ape on steroids. Was I supposed to do throttle set?
Recalibrating the throttle is done as the PC maps take into count % throttle use. So if when you aren't touching the throttle at all, the module thinks you are at 10% your map will be skewed. Also, if when you grab a handful it only thinks you are at 80%, you are losing performance as well. Doesn't take long to zero the throttle, so it never hurts to do.
