Need ideas for trip????

During the summer months my friends and I and the rear seat drivers run up the river at least once a month. I would suggest if you are going the river route to stay on the Ill side until you hit Galena then cross over into Dubuque and then head north along the twisting river roads. When you get to McGregor hang a hard right into Prairie Du Chien, nice town to get a cold beer and relax for a bit. I am not sure why but you will not see many hotels for Prairie on the net, but believe me they have quite a few. Heading north out of Prairie at a little town called De Soto you can get a cabin for the night fairly cheap, I think the last time there we payed about $60 a night. They are not fancy but the were clean and quite. Before De Soto on the East side of the road is a little bar called the Roadhouse, nice place and good food ( except for their pizza). A little farther north you will run into Lacross (nice place) and Winona or you can turn right and head to the Black River Falls area like others have talked about. If you look on the map you can pick out little scenic spots all along this route. You can't go wrong.
