Default Which is better,Ratio or Cam change?

Here is the problem, my '08 king (stock) is too high geared for some curves near where I live. Example ;10 mph uphill corner. Two-up I have to slip the clutch, but not by much. I do intend on makeing her breath better also. Would it be better to lower the torque curve by cam change or change my final/primary ratios? Been watching the forum with interest on ratio changes.

I did the 49 tooth evo clutch sprocket kit. While it made a pretty good difference in 1st gear starts, cams will be changed next weekend. From my emails back and forth with Andrews tech, they recommend gearing change first (they happen to sell a 30 tooth trans pully), or in addition to a cam swap. Since I just can't leave anything alone, I'll be swapping cams next weekend too on my '07.

I had the evo 30 tooth and hq 500 cams in my 07 SG. The combo was great and I will be adding the 30 tooth to my RG soon. I don't really need it but it should be fun. The 30 tooth should help alot and then you can add the cams later if you are still not happy. The evo sure won't hurt any.

I don't know of aftermarket cams that will lower the TQ curve, but if it exists I want to know about it. Most increase peak TQ but move the curve further to the right, something I don't want. I think lower gearing is your best bet.

Change the ratio first then go for the cams if necessary. Note spedo will have to be recalibrated on gear change

No cal necessary on the EVO 30T, if you do the tranny side then you have to recal

There is a lot of variations that may do what you want.
Just cams, gear only, gear change and cams.
there is also many differentiation in gear sets/change and cams.
i just went through this same decision and it was tough to decide.
I live on a mountain so I experience what you described.
There may be better solutions that what I ended up doing.
since I ride 2 up 50% of the time I decided to improve my tq by changing cams. Fuel mileage was a important factor in my decision.
I changed cams only. My decision was based on several factors, just as yours will be. I was hung up on cams or gearing.
All the gearing raised the rpm's too much for me. I have to do some interstate driving. 3,000 mph at 70 mph was just too much.
Gearing will most likely give you the seat of the pants increase in power for the cost as compared to cams.
Cams 299
adjustable push rods 139
labor 200
tuning was 0

i will say I am happy with the results. mpg went from 40-42 to 44-46
It solved my problem.

do a trans pulley first. it will cost only a few more dollars than the other options presented, but it will give you more of what you are looking for. yes the primary pulley is easier and doesn't require a speedo recal, but at some point (probably shortly) you will not be happy with going without any comp on the front pulley.
