Default Remove cigarette lighter

I have an 08 SG and have all but the rear fender pulled off for a paintjob. I do have the service manual but just can't seem to get it.

Any words of insight on how to remove the cigarette lighter? (No, not the 'hot' part) but the female part. I DC'd the wires in back, but can't unscrew whatever to get it out. (Don't have manual infront of me now.)

Thanks for the help.

Unsrew the ground ring. It is a silver color. It has male spade connector(were the ground wire connects to).

pcs you see inside the fairing where you disconnected the wires from should just unscrew from the chrome ring that comes thru the front side.

I had trouble with a lighter removal once.
I took pliers to it.
They cost $5 bucks at Autozone.

stick your thumb in the socket and grab the back of it and twist housing off the part you have your thumb stuck in or a fat finger will do. LOL

The chrome ring on the front side is basically half of the plug. The whole backside where the wires connect is the other half. The two screw together. HB told you everything you need to know to remove it.

I pulled mine out of my 08 and replaced it with a dual USB port. Same wiring inside fairing. I did have to make the hole slightly larger with a dremel. Maybe an 1/8 of an inch total. Wasn't much and not noticeable.

As all above have stated. When you unscrew the back just know you will be unscrewing the entire TUBE. The entire tube unscrews in one piece.

I recently had to replace my cigarette lighter. I took a few pictures to make it easier for others that might not know how the cigarette lighter attaches to the inner fairing.

1 picture, or two in this case, is equal to 1,000 words.
