I have an 08 SG and have all but the rear fender pulled off for a paintjob. I do have the service manual but just can't seem to get it.
Any words of insight on how to remove the cigarette lighter? (No, not the 'hot' part) but the female part. I DC'd the wires in back, but can't unscrew whatever to get it out. (Don't have manual infront of me now.)
The chrome ring on the front side is basically half of the plug. The whole backside where the wires connect is the other half. The two screw together. HB told you everything you need to know to remove it.
I pulled mine out of my 08 and replaced it with a dual USB port. Same wiring inside fairing. I did have to make the hole slightly larger with a dremel. Maybe an 1/8 of an inch total. Wasn't much and not noticeable.
I recently had to replace my cigarette lighter. I took a few pictures to make it easier for others that might not know how the cigarette lighter attaches to the inner fairing.

1 picture, or two in this case, is equal to 1,000 words.
