Default 95 build

Hey anyone want to jump on this. Whats better to do. Take a stock 88 and use a full 95 kit from HD or bore the stock jugs out and just buy pistons and so on as required..What makes a better build I guess is the question..New jugs ar use the ones i have and bore them out.

If you have the time and a good machinist, I would bore the jugs. When we used to build race engines we got our blocks from the salvage yards because they were "seasoned". They had already been through the cycle of heating and cooling, thus less likely to warp or change shape.

When I did my 95", I bought all new and was down for only 2 days.

While down I highly recommend a gear drive set up.

Good luck

have your`s bored and go with a good after market kit . that way all your parts are matched an work well together . head quarters makes a nice kit and they do core exchanges if down time is not an option.

As said above, bore the seasoned ones. You will get a better result and you can go with a different piston comb.

I highly recommend an AMS 96" kit. Call and ask for Steve. He'll be happy to talk with you even if you don't buy. http://www.automotivemachine.com/harley.htm
