I was replacing my stock trim ring on my 2009 flhx and was wondering how you put the spring or clip in??? When i took it off the spring popped off and i read the manual but was wanting to make sure i was doing it right.Any help is greatly appreciated!!
There is a visor trim piece that fits on with the stock ring, then there is also a replacement trim ring that has the visor attached. And from what I've read here, it's a real pain to put on and then the fit isn't very good.
I put trim rings on my Fatboy, and on all three lights up front on my Ultra. The Fatboy was easy, but the Ultra was a pain in the...you know what. It does not fit a smooth as the Fatboy's did. You have to unscrew the light a little, then open the gap in the trim ring, and force it on. Then, you screw the two bottoms together. The left side spot light was the worst for me though. The fairing helps hide this a little though. I threw the stock spring away BTW.
Not sure if they would fit................. But has anyone ever tried to mount up an FL softail headlamp ring on a touring headlight? Are the headlights the same? The ring on my FLSTN fit perfect. Maybe I'm way off base here, but just a thought????
I realize this thread is 11 years old , but it was usefull in attaching a new headlight visor trim ring. A damn pain in the *** for sure, I also put the inner, and outer together measured the gap, marked, and then cut out the difference on the inner ring, and PRESTO CHANGEO.......no more gap, and no more swearing hahahaha.....
