Default Gerbing wiring

Hey all!

Finally did it; ordered the jacket/pants liners and G3s today . I'm excited! Heather told me there's a coax harness that'll come off the battery and plug into the jacket (pants/gloves also to the jacket).

Dual controller and was surprised when she said the pants/gloves are on one circuit. I thought it'd be the jacket/gloves. She said the jacket's always the one that gets too hot.

Now, will the battery on a 2009 Road King Classic handle all this? What do people here generally do as far as wiring to the bike? I don't know the Gerbing draw yet, and not sure how to check the bike's battery output. I have a multi-meter but an no expert on how to use it.

I thought worse case is I take the Gerbing paperwork down to HD, and let them tell me the best way to go, but I'd appreciate any leadership! Tkx!!

I have the Gerbing's jacket liner, outer pants, guantlet gloves, and socks...I connected the coax cable directly to the battery (it's fused by Gerbings) and ran it under the saddlehorn of the seat coming out right by the gas tank. Easy to get to and plug in.

Been using this set up for the past 2 years.. No problems! I have ridden to work in temperatures as low as 10 degrees, nice and toasty!!!

Your bike puts out plenty of juice to run the Gerbings suit. Like they said, wire directly to the battery and warm up!

I just installed mine (gloves & jacket only). The instruction s that came with your gear should indicate which fuse to use based on the number of pieces you are connecting. It goes something like this:

Jacket only: use the 5 amp fuse
Jacket & Gloves: use 10 amp fuse
Jacket & Pants: use 12 amp fuse

etc.

If you don't have this little guide along with the various fuses, just call them. I actually drove down to their facility in Olympia, WA and bought my stuff direct and got to meet them. Very helpfull folk.
