I swear I wasn't drinking at the time...now I am...RATS!
I think I read almost all the post re install into the oil pan. Saw the pic rocknrod had and it looked as if the unit was flush w/the adaptor. Well...when I was tight'n the unit I snapped the brass fitting from the unit (oh...guess I don't know my own strength). I swear this shhstuff only happens to me...lol (belch)
so...since I didn't read any thing out there cautioning on not over tighting...
WARNING WARNING!!
and nope...you don't have to use any thread compound...just went and looked at it again and it's not leaking...even w/it busted off in the adaptor.
so now what? off to the dealer to get just the sending unit? do they sell just a sending unit? there has to be another knucklehead like me out there
guess I'll just put my adjustable driver backrest on and the tweeter pod on I got from PEZ...
you watch...I'll be the 1st guy to drill through the fairing to mount my pod and bring back a tangladash of wires...lol
any feedback or words of wisdom would be appreciated...
thanks,
smat
I work on stuff sometimes that costs 100,000 and more. I never get nervous and almost never break anything or screw something up. When it's my own money machine etc. I have a real problem screwing things up. It's a curse. drink 10 beers and try again tomorrow
ok...thanks for the intervention fellas...
so I stop drinking (never started...just said I did)
so I'm sober and the unit is still broke...boy I feel better...
least I got the backrest attached...you watch...I'll be riding and the f'er will come fly'n off...
time to install the speaker pod...
any other words of wisdom besides the 12 steps?
ok ok...I admit I'm powerless over this bike...
going to a swap meet tomorrow here in MI maybe I'll get lucky and find a unit there?
I guess I'm just venting a lil...I'm off the couch now...
later,
smat
Installing the speaker pod...follow the directions, it's a piece of cake.
