Hi New to the Foprum , Just purchased 2009 Road Glide , love the bike , has a few things , My fly by wire is super sensitive throttle movements , I rode a friend's 08 Ultra , his is nothing like mine , Also the New Road Glide is suppose to be same seat height , WRONG , my short legs tell , 08 is lower , Put the Pingel Touring lowering Kit , ( Lowers 1 full inch and well made ) , Waiting on Mustang Solo Seat , anyone else has this throttle sensitivity , Please advise!!!!Gary the new Road Glider
from what I have read there is a procedure to recalibrate the TBW. I don't have my bike yet so I cant tell you for sure. If you search you might find it. someone will probably post it here soon.
Early 08 models had a bit of "lag" response in the TBW. They updated the throttle sensitivity and improved the response. I have the early 08 model and just replaced my bars and the throttle to a newer version. It is much more sensitive and after riding with it for awhile I am now use to it.
The throttle on my '08 RG is quite a bit more senstive than my '02 Ultra. It took a while to get used to but I don't even notice it anymore. When I ride the 08 RG I usually keep my index finger on or against the handlebar switch housing. It gives me better throttle control and I no longer accelerate when I hit every bump in the road.
As far as height goes, I am 6'4" with 36" inseam so I don't have any issues with it.
absolutely correct, the 08 TBW was so bad on my 08 RG it felt like an early 80's turbo car--the lag was unbearable. The 09 TBW is much better IMHO not as good as the wire but better than the 08
