picked up my bike today after having it dyno tuned. i have a 2000 rkc with the 95" big bore kit, and 203 cam, and stage 1 air cleaner, and hooker slip ons. bike dynoed at 83 hp and 96ft. torque. the bikes runs great, i cant believe the difference it made. only problem is that it idles a little faster than i like. my bike is fuel injected. here the question, is there an idle adj. screw on the throttle body to lower the idle rpm's? if not how can i lower the idle rpm's? thanks for all your help!
If you'll look at the linkage - where it actuates the butterfly on the throttle body, you'll see the end of a threaded adjuster screw. It is located behind a small aluminum "block off" plug on the lower right of the throttle body when viewed looking into the throat.
You will have to remove the air filter and backing plate to access it. You will have to remove the plug first.
***Caution*** Do NOT adjust it below 1000RPMs. It can hose the charging system on your bike and also risks not providing adequate power to run the ECM & injectors.
************ WAIT *************
I just went back re-read your post... It's a 2000, so it does not have the Delphi Throttle Body. I had an 01 FLHT that was EFI. I am sure I tweaked it too. You should be able to use the same procedure to find the adjuster. However the same rule applies - DO NOT adjust below 1000RPM!
I think your 2000 RKC has the M&M FI right? I think on my '99 M&M bike there is an idle speed adjustment on the lower right hand face of the TB. If you take your air cleaner cover and filter off, you should be able to see it. I think Phil is describing the idle adjustment for a Delphi FI unit. Not totally sure though.
well i dont have a tach on it yet. it sems to be idling fast, but the tuner told me it was idiling way to low when i brought it in. this is the first harley that i have owned. to me i liked it better when it idle lower and you could here the cam. any way to tell wothout a tach? what is normal? or does everyone have there own opinion?
