I had my big one back in '80, standard turn left in front of me and I broadsided them.
Two weeks after I got outta the hospital I had a friend of mine come over on his bike, another KZ1000 like I had, and I took it around the block a few times, still in stiches and bandages. I just had to know. I got another bike a year later. But, since that accident I can tell you that I know that I'm a much more causious and better rider having had that expierience.
But it stays with you. I notice that if I go more than just a few days without riding, when I get on my bike the first few minutes I find myself in a over paranoid mode, until I relax a "little" bit. Having said that, I still ride like they all are trying to run over us.
Congrats on getting back on, it'll take time but you'll really start to enjoy it again, I do.
well i got on the ultra for the first time today since the accident on 12'15/08. i was very nervous at first but as the miles clicked by i started to relax, and before i knew it i was just gliding along at piece and enjoying it once again. i didnt know if could do it again before i got back on it but all is good.. A big THANKS to you all for all of the kind words and support. it if was not for all of you i dont know if i would have gotten back on it. Be safe! Hockey
Congrats on getting back in the saddle so quickly. Took me 15 years to get past the fear after my spill back in '83. That was 15 years of good times on the road with good friends I missed out on.
I had the same problem.. with the crash and being weak from the heart attack i was thinking sell.. but i still have it and im riding the hell outta it .... good for you..
Dave
Good for you!! I crashed hard Aug. 07 and I must say it was really tough for me to get in the saddle again last summer. I didn't put on a lot of miles in 08 but I think I'm ready to put lots of miles on this summer!!!
