Funny thing is, I just had a hearing test last week, my ears have improved. Go figure.

LOL! Riding a Sportie for 3 years with open pipes and loud music over the years pretty much screwed my hearing up..

torque cones..that's one way to stop reversion. There's another way. If you gut the pipes..the pressure and speed of the gasses are of concern. If you gut them, go find some reduces and put them into the pipes with larger end toward the header and smaller end facing the exhaust tips. This forces the gasses to rush faster as they leave, and the smaller diameter openings facing outward prevents the gasses from re-entering the exhaust which can attempt (and succeed) in reaching and entering the valves. This works well..doesn't cost much and prevents loss of performance. I've done it with several bikes. I'm considering doing it now with the 04 classic I just purchased. I don't care for the "QUIET" HD sound it emits. I prefer to be HEARD!
