Default Air Deflectors to Reduce Buffeting?

Would like some opinions on the adjustable air deflectors from those who have ridden a lot without them and then with them on an Electra Glide. I've purchased an 9.5 Clearview with recurve to try to reduce buffeting and am wondering if the deflectors will help with that as well. I'm thinking that maybe the deflectors will channel some air, when partially opened, right behind the fairing and possibly help reduce buffeting. As we all know, windshields and fairings create a vacumm (sort of) behind them and air is drawn up to fill the space and creates helmet buffeting. I'm posting this without having done a search but I particularly would like opinions from riders who have ridden a lot with and without. Thanks for the input.

Oh, I have a 2008 EGS. No lowers.

I keep hearing about Buffeting on the touring bikes, but after owning an 06 and now an 08 Ultra, I have never experienced this problem. I have run stock shields, or HD shorter shields, and the stock deflectors on both bikes.

Th Adjustable deflectors will allow you to have more wind in your face, if you desire, I tend to keep minee closed unless its really hot out.

I felt the buffetting on wifes Deluxe, but thats gone after putting on the fork mounted chrome deflectors.

My opinion is that you're not riding in a car. You shouldn't expect the same sensations are rolling along in a Volvo with the windows rolled up. It's a motorcycle. You have a windshield to cut the breeze from your chest. What more do you really expect?

Buffeting? I got no problems with buffeting.

Not sure what you mean by buffeting. I don't have any airflow problems when riding my Ultra. The stock deflectors work fine for me. Usually ride closed unless I want the extra air hitting me when it's a little too warm out.

The chrome fork deflectors do a good job at reducing buffeting on bikes with windshields. I have a set for my EGS and they don't seem to be as effictive on it. On your Ultra, you really never ran much without the deflectors, huh?

Wasn't really looking for an opinion on whether or not I should happy or not with buffeting. Wanted one on the effect of adjustable deflectors on it.

So you haven't ridden without the deflectors to know if they make a difference.

From my experience I can tell you this. I had the fairing mounted air deflectors and took them off to try a set of the chrome fork mounted deflectors. I now run the fork baffle, fork deflectors and a 6" shield and that is the set up I will stay with. I won't be putting the fairing mounted deflectors back on the bike.

I have basically no buffeting on my 07 Ultra, but every now and then, I am guessing if the cross-wind is just right I will get the slightest amount. The fork baffle made it just a bit better. The adjustable wings did nothing to change it.

Dont get me wrong, I like them. Its nice to be able to get some more wind on your chest on hot days, but I dont think they are you answer to help buffeting if you have it.

Thanks Rattle and Stu. I had a feeling they wouldn't make much of difference. I'll forget about them.
