Straight up which one do you like better
I know everyone is different
Everyone rides on different roads
So just asking if you have had either one or both which one did you like
Not that I am the expert but Avon tires have a short life expectancy reputation and it seems their wide tires for custom bikes may be their better tire and its where they get name recognition.
The E3's are realtively new and compare favorably to the ME 880's and the Michelin Commander. All 3 of these tires are rated for HD use and have tread patterns condusive to better all-around road grip and handling.
For my next tire change I am leaning towards the E3 or Commander. I will not be considering any of the Avons.
I look for the best grip in a tire whether it is for a car or a bike. I don't care how long it is going to last. I also think about how they handle in the wet. The stock Dunlops suck. Not tried the new ones. Put Venom's on my Fat Boy. My Buddy would lock up on his RK with the stock Dunlops in the wet. The Avons were planted, wet or dry.
Stock Dunlops were probably D402's. Nothing like Dunlop Elite 3's. I prefer the Elites, not just over the Avons, but over every other tire I've had. And that includes Avons, Mezzlers 880's, Continental's, and of course D402's. Plus you can pick them up for a great price at Dennis Kirk or Ron Ayers. Last pair I bought in the fall was less than $210 for both, shipped to my door. Hard to beat that. And they handle great... Just one more opinion.
