Default 2008 FLHX Thoughts?

I have been thinking about transitioning from an 05 SuperGlide to a bagger...specifically the StreetGlide. I have always had a thing for this style bike. With a planned trip to Sturgis this year, seems like a good time to make the switch. A friend has an 08 StreetGlide that he is willing/wanting to sell (getting out of biking because of some injuries). He has a race tuner, V&H pipes and some other upgrades.

What are the pros and cons of this platform? What might I be overlooking?

I am ready to pull the trigger once I find a buyer for my SuperGlide.

Thanks

Todd

All I can think of are cons:

1) You'll have to fight off all the hot chicks that SG's attract
2) You won't get anything done at home anymore since SG's are such a joy to ride - long trip or short
3) Have to make tough decisions about what music to listen to - radio, CD's, etc.
4) You'll spend more money filling up that 6 gallon tank
5) You'll have to decide when to use that pesky sixth gear

I could go on and on but you get my drift!

You'll love the StreetGlide, it's a great bike. The only hesitation I would have is, 08 was the last model year before all of the major changes to the touring line in 09. That may hurt resell value down the road.

If you are looking at stepping up, I would just take a look at the upgrades in 09 and see if they are worth whatever the price difference is to you.

Other than that, enjoy the new ride!

I test drove a 06 SG. After I just sold my lowrider and ordered a 09 SG. Come to the bagger family :-)

I agree with kjmorgan. I love my 08 SG. I can't get anything done around the house anymore, cause whenever it is nice out, I gotta go ridin!

I jumped over to the dark side from a 04 superglide to a 08 street glide. I loved the hell out of that bike but as soon as I left the stealer's parking lot I forgot all about that Dyna. Now with that said my girl just bought a 09 street and I have to say the difference is amazing between the 08 and the 09 but mine is still faster cause it's black.

The only issue I can think of would be price. How much your friend's asking versus how much an '09 would cost you. If it's less than a $6K gap, I'd get the '09.

My last three bikes were softails and they had pros and cons. My Street Glide doesn't have a con that I can think of.
