Hey guys you can't substitute quality and price ur right you get what u pay 4. I'm going to sacrafice one of my bags for the simply fact that I have the quadzilla fairing and time to time I like to ride without it. I plan on adding 6x9's and a amp in one bag and speakers in my leg warmers so i'll still have sound when I ride without my head fairing.
i think the term "you get what you pay for" is being used incorrectly. if you look closely at the hawgwired setup its cost is close to 600$ and its one of the lowest powered amps on the market. so do quality research. you have to consider size power harmonic distortion class of the amp and signal to noise ratio. then pick the amp and matched speaker which best suits your needs.
I just installed a blaupunkt high efficiency amp - full range d class (I believe this is also called t class) in a tight space under my radio in my dragonfly fairing driving boston accoustics sl 6x9 speakers. The speakers use a small lightweight neodynium magnet to save space and weight. Blaupunkt tha275pnp. I uploaded pictures of the setup under my thread.
I know it's an old thread but I'm gonna respond anways... I see so many of these posts about harmonic distortion, class a, class b, class c.. etc.. I can assure you.. the folks that spend so much time talking about this are the ones that are more concerned about what their bike looks like vs whether or not it runs... Put a damn amp and speakers in, sit your a$$ on the seat, with your left hand pull the clutch in, with your left foot, throw it into gear, and ease on the throttle.. You'll be amazed at how much you really don't use all this crap when you're actually riding that thing you paid $20k for.
it's a friking motorcycle guys! it's decible output at idle is 80+ who the hell cares about something as miniscule as .005 versus .001 % total harmonic distortion! gimme a damn break.. it's not a crank it up contest. Get what you can afford, be happy with it. I can easily afford the hogtunes, hawg-wired, or J&M amps but what's the point of spending 4 or 5 hundred bucks on something that is TOTALLY not necessary when I can spend 100 and get the same results.. LOUDER AND CLEANER SOUND from the sucky stock setup HD provides.....
Pioneer stereo , IPOD , Arc Amp on a custom fabbed mounting bracket, total of 4 4" ARC 100 watt speakers wired in parallell and fabbed to fit into the front fairing. It is clearer and lounder than a new 'Glide. Talk to Firecap, it is worth it.
The Elf amp is the same as the ARC, can be found for about $200. Do a search for Elf Audio E2125x.
Design yes internal components no. There's at least four Arc Audio, Elf Audio, Wet Sounds & J&M of similiar design. These amps were all designed in the USA by legendary car amp designer Robert Zeff/ Nikola Engineering design house. The build house is a Taiwan Exporter Ubuy Industrial Corp(China manufacturer). Although all very similar to the Arc Audio amp the Elf Audio amp has slightly different internal component parts and this is seen in documented amp teardowns. These internal parts difference could explain cost variations between amps etc. The Wet Sounds has a marine grade epoxy coated printed circuit boards also which is different from rest. The Arc Audio KS125.2 mini amp was first and released in Feb 08.
