The local ( meaning national here in NZ) rep here is Robert Taylor,he is willing to revalve and spring those shocks to suit.
He really knows his stuff, travels to all the race meets around the country to tune shocks for the race guys.
I've had Ohlins on a couple of bikes and have seen the difference of having a set properly valved vs the std offering as per my Ducati 999R,not fantastic.
I thought they would be cheaper in the USA though as I see Ohlins US listing shocks for the FLHRS for around $650 but yes,if you are having to pay for the extra work they probably would not be such a great deal.

The 36E is a great deal. Much more performance for a shock that compares in pricing for the many competitors shock but are not a good shock. Unfortunately Ohlins misses the mark on Baggers. The only ones they have are 11 1/2" in the 36E for the baggers (as far as I know). we had discussed what it would take and it seams that you would have to buy arounf $200 in parts and build a new set to make them longer. Of course time spent is not free either. Not a viable project. We made a set of Penske's for customer up north east and within one month he bought a second set and got rid of the first set due to the length. It seams that his pipes were hitting the street once he left his apron and crossed the swale onto the street. I personally prefer more ground clearance and lean angle.
