Default Power from battery to batwing

Has anyone ever run a power line from the battery on up to the batwing without removing the tank?

I'm laying the ground work for my stereo upgrade and the tank removal instructions in the manual are a little intimidating

I figured I would run a fish tape up the frame, following the path of the existing harness...or maybe just lift the tank enough to push my cable through...?

You can fish a wire through the harness cover under the tank i used a coat hanger....but you can also tap the power wire coming off the key switch for power you need also if you are doing a stereo upgrade like adding a amp or something just tap the power wire from the radio harness......

Not a problem. Just run it under the console. That's what I did when I wired up my Hogtunes.

Easy to do and if you want even more room I cant remeber who but someone makes a small kit that lifts the front of the tank 2", It gives it the appearance of a little more rake, I have one on mine and it makes it easyier to get stuff under the tanks.

Thanks for all the info, I'm in!
I fished on top of the harness between it and the bottom of the tank. It hung up about 3/4 of the way up, but a good twist and push got it through.
I taped up and pulled back through two 10ga. cables and one amp remote lead. I still need to come back and dress them with some covering, but the hard part is over.

Thanks again

If you are installing the amp under the fairing you should only need one 10 ga. wire under the tank.

For now there will be one amp in the fairing, along with a head unit and XM module. For that I only needed to run the single 10ga from the battery, yes.

I ran the ground and amp remote turn on for future install. Down the road I'll put an amp in one of the bags, and I'll use the same ground point for that as I did for the amp up front. Of course the remote wire needs to go back there as well to turn on the amp. I just need to run an RCA back there now for input.

Correction...the frame is very dirty. I got this beast from my dad who left it on a lift for two years because he had no time to ride. No sh*t, when I pulled the front fairing off, there were about 10 wasp nests in there. Not the honeycomb type, but the ones that look like little tunnels made out of mud...nasty

Just lossen the front to tank bolts have someone gently lift the tank a little and you can run the wires string under tank, not an issue, that is what I did with my hid and my Hogtunes kit.
