Ditch the factory shocks for some progressives or better yet Penske shocks.. Do the racetech spring upgrade with cartridge emulators and drop the front end an inch... Get a good seat, the factory unit sucks.. I am partial to Corbin, you either love 'em or hate 'em, but most would agree they spank the hell outta the stocker. Then you can start thinking about the drivetrain.. Go to 103", Woods 6 or 44 mag cam, performance headwork and you will be pumping 105-110HP / TQ... Woo Hoo..

Default Question about moving pegs?

How do you go about moving the rear pegs up front to become highway pegs? Do you need to purchase some type of brackets in order to bolt them up front? Thanks Glenno

Default Rear pegs for Highway pegs

I just purchased a new SG and added the rear foot boards for my wife, I then purchased engine guard mounts for the rear pegs ($40), which works with the rear pegs you just took off. As far as other upgrades, I added a low profile backrest and auxillary driving lights so the SG wouldn't look so plain up front. You will definately want a new windshield. I ordered a fair aire 8" today for $29. The stock 4" won't cut it for a long haul.

Have a plan/ theme for your bike before you start buying parts and accessories.

I bought 'long arm' highway peg mounts from HD. These bolt up to engine guard. Set it up so heel of foot can rest on floorboard and ball of foot on the peg. THEN, you can use boards, a combo of boards and pegs, or just pegs.

Makes that ride more comfortable if you can move feet and legs around.

I cannot speak on an older SG. But an 09, with 6 gallon tank, can make legs uncomfortable because the boards are like 'under' the tank from the factory.
Whose extensions are you using? and what size are they?
