Nothing particularly wrong with the stock mirrors, I just don't care for the teardrop shape & don't like the convex view. I changed to the older square/flat mirrors I've had on Evo's forever. But, the change that made the mirrors useful was changin' the bars. I chose Wide Glide bars, but any bar that gets your hands up a little will also move the mirrors up where they become useful. If you can't get comfortable with higher bars you might try mirrors with longer stems..........
I've got a set of Harley billet mirrors. I really like the look and they provide a good view for me. I've had the same mirrors on the stock bars and now on a set of Heritage bars. Works well with both.
I just got the Harley mirror extenders. I think they raise the mirrors about 2". Now I can see past my shoulders and get a clear view. I also have the Khrome Werks +2 Sweeper bars. I don't know about the cool factor but the functional factor is 100.
I don't have any pictures and if I did I am not sure about how to post them.
