Just picked up my bike from the dealer. Had it there for the Andrews 26H cam install (and Torrington b168's and SE adjustable pushrods). Too cold to ride any further than the 5 miles home but so far I'm REALLY impressed (gimme a break, it's 19 degrees with snow flurries!) Mucho more power!! Whoooopeeee!!! Butt dyno says NICE improvement!
I didn't change my T-Max basemap and, if today's initial ride is any indication, I won't need to. Popped on decel a couple of times but that was it, I'm sure T-Max will dial in.
Thanks to those of you I've "consulted" concerning these cams.
PS...this was the first time anyone else has worked on my bike, I was nervous as heck!
Would you mind if I asked what the dealer charged you? I have been thinking about doing the same set up.
Not at all. I supplied the cams ($229.00 from American Classic Motors), the SE adjustable pushrods ($100.00, NIB, from a member here) and the Torrington bearings ($6.97 each from a local bearing house).
Dealer charged me for 4 hours labor, 4 new stock "B" lifters, and the few gaskets and O rings that I needed, for a total of $450 and change when I picked it up. I have about $700.00 in it total for the swap.
You'll like the cams. I put mine in last winter and the first week out, my kids complained(on the back) that I was rolling the throttle to much, my riding group complained I rode to fast and had to roll on after every stop.
Best part was pulling a trailer with my wife on the back through the Anderondacs with no effort, my friend changed gears more than me without a trailer. The bottom end torque is great.
I can beat my friends bike who has the 510's and 95 kit up to about 90 miles and hour then he just roles by. He doesn't have the bottom end though.
Enjoy when it warms up
Sounds like you got a good deal. And yeah be glad when the weather breaks, expecting that white suff tonight. Lord help me, I am not sure I will make it till April.
