i had sinus surgery done in october. The surgery took about 2 hours and my doc told me they use some sort of plastic stents now instead of packing. Makes for a much easier recovery. It's pretty wild when you go back in and have the stents pulled out of your nostrils!

This will be the hardest part not take a sing a the doc you just might want to LOL good luck
Other than having my nose packed for 2 days, should I have any real concerns?
I had a deviated septum.
Not too pleasant when the packing is removed!
It hurt like a SOB when the doc removed it from me.Then my nose was plugged up for a good 2 weeks after that.

You'll probably be fine. I've had surgery done twice on my nose for snoring. Just make sure you have it done in a hospital and not in a doctor's office. The second/LAST time I had surgery on my nose it was in the doctor's office. He did something wrong and blood started GUSHING out of my nose and down my throat. He started yelling at the nurses to get the suction machine going before I choked to death on my own blood and they screamed back at him that IT WAS BROKEN. I seriously thought for a few seconds there that I was gonna die in that chair. I kind of freaked out but they jammed something like a soldering iron up my nose and cauterized the spot that was spewing blood. I probably should have sued that @sshole just for the scaring the **** out of me. I wonder how much blood I swallowed that day.
Every case is different. I spent a good deal of time welding galvanized steel at GM. As a result I started to have very serious and cronic sinus infections. I had the flap on one side trimmed and the nose re-aligned etc. It helped me for about three months. Iwent back into the same cycle of infections. After two MD's told me I needed to be cut again, I went for a third opinion from an DO. He informed me that MD's have no knowledge of how to use drugs. He placed me on a lower dose of anti-biotic for a much longer period of time. I still get colds and get sick, but the sinus infections never came back. That was fifteen years ago. i would have to look up the doctors name, but he is brilliant and not very friendly. But he cured me for forty bucks. PM me and I will look up his name, or just search for a DO in your area. Osteopathic Doctor. Good luck, I know first hand how dibilitating that can be.
I know it isn't going to be easy or painfree. I also know that every situation is unique. All I can hope for is that time goes fast. The weather here should be getting better pretty quick now and I NEED to ride.
I appreciate all of you giving your honest (and painful) accounts of this procedure. The "visual" in the recliner with the pink blanket was enlightening too. I'm sure I will look just like that.
I did consider the permanent fringe thing but that would just look like a burger so, I'll skip it.
I report to the hospital Tuesday morning at 8 am. The rest shall be history. Thanks again!
I had mine done they chisled the bone and what not. Any how if they packed it right you should be good to go. They use some type of gel and the old cotton and cloth way is nort used any more.
Try not to sneeze or laugh I had a friend that had the same thing done. Being the nice guy I am, I bought six of those fake nose with glasses attached. I took the noses off and stuck them on some rose stems. When I walked in and gave him Six long stem noses he about blew his packing out I know my wife thinks I'm stupid too.
