Default PC V install question

I just installed the PC V on my 04 Ultra today. I ordered from Fuel-Moto last week. It is too cold to ride any, but I have a question. Is it necessary or advantageous to do the throttle adjustment in the software? Seems I remember reading somewhere that a pre-mapped PC V does not need this done since Jamie already set up the unit with a custom map before shipping to me. Any advice appreciated.

I believe on the non-TBW bikes such as yours it would be wise to check it. I didn't have to set mine but it is TBW and was dead on in closed position when the bike was at operating temp. I would let it idle for a bit with the laptop hooked up to the PCV and once engine temp comes up and idle goes down to normal the throttle should read 0%. If not you'll need to calibrate it. Mine starts out at 2-3% when cold and settles right on 0% once it's warmed up.

Throttle position should be checked....it might not be off by alot, but it's wise to check anyway. I did my PC-V earlier today.....at idle, throttle position showed 4% before I reset it. I'm pretty sure the map and throttle position are independent of each other (IIRC, you can change maps without resetting TP).

You did let it get up to operating temp before you set it right? I'm sure you did, but for other's knowledge this is important as the warm-up cycle affects TP.

Correct. The throttle setting have nothing to do with what map is installed. Changing maps has no effect on your throttle settings.

It's advisable to check both TP's (0% and 100%) on any non-TBW bike. It's very easy on the PCV. First, warm-up the bike to normal operating temps. Connect to a computer with the software installed via USB cable, go to Device Tools > Calibrate > Throttle Position. Turn on the ignition but don't start the bike, then click on "Reset" and turn the throttle to 100% (WOT). Close that small window and go to the digital readout to double-check both positions on the digital meters. It should show 0% with no throttle input and 100% at WOT. If WOT shows 98-99% that's close enough. You're done!

Yes, on the 07 and earlier non drive-by-wire bikes I do recommend checking and/or resetting the throttle postion settings. A simple check with the USB software is very easy, and if it reads anything other than 0% at idle I recommend resetting it. Note on these models this can be done with a cold motor as it does not have a stepper on the throttle blade.

What about on an 08? Maybe the instructions will tell me but was wondering if I needed to set the TP 0% and 100% when I install mine. SHould be here from Fuel Moto tomorrow (I Hope).
